Meet our Program Personnel

Our platform speakers will be speaking to our theme of the 'Sufficiency of Christ'.

Morning Speaker: Stuart McAllister

Interlaken McAllister

Born in Scotland, Stuart McAllister spent his earlier years in sales before Christ changed his life at the age of twenty. From then on, filled with a hunger to learn more about and preach the Gospel, he took every opportunity to witness and give his testimony. The desire to serve the Lord and at the same time deepen his understanding of the faith led him to Operation Mobilisation in 1978. OM sent him to Yugoslavia where he was imprisoned for forty days for distributing Christian literature. Undeterred, he continued on his mission to preach the Gospel in communist countries, which resulted in several more imprisonments.

He was general secretary of the European Evangelical Alliance and is involved with the European Lausanne Committee. Stuart has developed an evangelistic mobilization called "Love Europe" that sent several thousand team members across Europe with the message of the Gospel. He also founded the European Roundtable to bring together a diverse group of ministries and interests; they united to foster "Hope for Europe."

After residing in Vienna, Austria for twenty years, Stuart joined the staff of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries as the International Director in January of 1998 (www.rzim.org). Pluralism, postmodernism and consumerism are regular topics addressed by Stuart in the leadership seminars.

Evening Speaker: Anthony (Tony) Carter

He attended Atlanta Christian College where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He is the author of several books.  He currently serves as the Assistant Pastor at Southwest Christian Fellowship (www.scfi.org) in Atlanta, GA. He has served in this current position since 2002. Besides his pastoral and preaching responsibilities at Southwest Christian Fellowship, he is a frequent conference speaker, guest lecturer and preacher.

Worship Leader & Team: Jerry Chambers& family

Interlaken Chambers

Jerry Chambers is a third-generation Music & Worship Pastor.  After serving at Faith Baptist in Kaiserslautern, Germany, he and his wife, Judy, sensed God’s call to return to the Pacific Northwest, helping establish Meadowbrook Church - a missional church designed to reach the lost in the Redmond area, home to Microsoft.

They have four children, ranging in ages from 15-26.

Jerry led worship for Interlaken in 1992 and 1995.  Nine of the Chambers family musicians will be comprising the worship band and vocal team for the worship services at Interlaken.

Something for everyone...

The conference offers three separate tracks for adult, youth and children.

Adults

Mornings begin at 9:00 with seminars until 11.15, followed by worship and Bible study, from 11.30 - 12.30. Participants may choose two seminars for the week, led by committed Christians from around the world. Here are a few examples of our seminar topics: Marriage, Parenting Children, Parenting Teenagers, Evangelism, Counseling, Bible Studies, Children's Ministry, Women's Ministry, Coaching, Single Adults, and more. For more information on the seminars to be offered, please view this pdf (NEW UPDATED!) There is a special opportunity this year to attend a  'Pre-School & Children's Ministry Certification' class - further details can be found here.

Single Adults

A number of special activities are planned for the afternoons and evenings (after the evening meeting), as well as a seminar for single adults. Dorm rooms (4-6 beds per room) have been reserved at the Backpackers Hostel across the street from the conference center (www.villa.ch). This option includes a daily breakfast plus four evening meals (Sun-Wed). Singles who wish to stay with this group must register early to make sure their accommodations are confirmed. Singles with their own accommodation arrangements can also sign up for the evening meals.

Youth (EUROVENTURE)

Euroventure attracts large numbers of youth each year at its popular site in Grindelwald. The youth program is packed with Bible study, worship, small group sharing time, recreation and much more! Youth registration fees, forms and permission slips are separate from family registrations. Registration forms are available through your church, on the IBC website or from the IBC office. Fees depend on the number of youth in a family attending Euroventure and include camp registration, food and lodging for each student. The earlier you register, the lower the cost! Click here to download the information document. Registration forms need to be signed and sent to the IBC office. Online payment can be made here.

Places are limited so please sign up early! Any questions, contact our Youth Coordinator, Jan Horak: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Where is Interlaken?

Interlaken is a resort city that, as its name suggests, is situated between two lakes in the midst of the Jungfrau region of the Swiss Alps. It is approx. 60 kilometres (30 minutes) south-east of Bern, Switzerland. Train service to Interlaken from both Bern and Zurich is excellent and includes a direct service from Zurich airport.

Accommodations

The International Baptist Convention regrets that it is unable to book accommodations for you. However, as a resort city, Interlaken has a wide variety of housing available (hotels, apartments, chalets and camp sites). Individuals and families should make their own arrangements, unless one person in the church you attend is designated as Interlaken coordinator. Housing arrangements should be made early because facilities in Interlaken and nearby villages fill up quickly. Local tourist bureaus mail brochures to IBC churches listing all available housing in the area, as does the website. Churches have also received from the IBC office a brochure providing information on lower cost accommodation options (download here). The conference location is Alpenstrasse 23 (school buildings) and Alpenstrasse 45 (Artos Hotel) on the east side of Interlaken. If you do not have access to an IBC church and need assistance, please contact:
