Education Ministry Team announces an exciting new partnership
The Education
Ministry Team of the International Baptist Convention is pleased to
announce a new theological partnership with Spurgeons College,
London. The partnership will provide IBC churches with quality,
affordable and accessible theological training via the college’s
open learning course. Specific details of the program can be
found on side 2. Founded by Charles Haddon Spurgeon in 1856 to
train others to share in the task of bringing the Good News to a
needy world, today the college has over 400 students helping his
vision live on. The College stands firmly in the evangelical
tradition and is a member of the Evangelical Alliance. The College
is fully committed to the central authority of the Scriptures in
study of God's word lies at the heart of the College's life.
At the same time,
however, Spurgeon’s college seeks to blend the evangelical faith
with contemporary relevance. We sincerely believe that the college's
commitment to studying the gospel of Jesus Christ as witnessed to by
the Scriptures, is vital in helping us face the challenges of
bringing the Gospel into modern Europe.
We sense we have a
tremendous opportunity to impact Europe with the good news of the
Gospel and we are encouraged by the growth and transformation that
is taking place in our churches.
IBC churches are
unique in many respects and we believe that within the emerging
world culture we are well for the Lord Jesus Christ. However, we
recognize that quality theological education is essential if our
pastors, church leaders and members are to understand, interact with
and successfully charter the course through the diversity that
exists within their congregation and the communities they serve.
Through partnering
with Spurgeon’s College London, a college that stands firmly within
the evangelical tradition, we believe we can offer a program that
can prepare Christians for mission and ministry within the context
of 21st century Europe.
We are excited about this partnership
and ask you to support it in two ways. First, support us by
praying for this initiative. Second, we ask that you promote
it within your churches.
